Cultural Resources
NUS offers a rich tapestry of activities to
promote arts and cultural life on campus.
The Centre for the Arts, NUS Museum and the
University Cultural Centre are also national
emblems of our rich cultural heritage, and
have played host to various international
and local arts and entertainment events.
The National University Library
The NUS Library offers a rich and diverse
collection of materials in various disciplines.
It comprises of six libraries located across
the Kent Ridge campus:
1. Central Library
2. Chinese Library
3. Hon Sui Sen Memorial Library
4. C J Koh Law Library
5. Medical Library
6. Science Library
A comprehensive range of services is provided
in each library, including loans, online
renewal and reservations, inter-library
loans, reference service, online information
search, document delivery and the use of
audiovisual and microform materials.
Secure Plug-and-Play Network
Secure Plug and Play (SPnP) provides registered
users an efficient, convenient, secure and
affordable network connection throughout
the university campus without compromising
network security. SPnP is a live network
access point that allows the user to connect
his or her laptop or notebook computer and
gain access to network services anytime
anywhere on campus. NUS is the first institution
of higher learning to offer SPnP access
with a total of 8,000 access points at strategic
locations.
Integrated Virtual Learning Environment
(IVLE)
The Integrated Virtual Learning Environment
provides one-stop access to a rich repertoire
of IT-based teaching and learning resources.
Almost half of all courses offered are now
available online and range from simple course
outlines with lesson plans to sophisticated
multimedia online courseware. The courses
are linked to related overseas sites broadening
the knowledge reach for our students.
NUSCast
NUSCast, a campus-wide network TV service
was launched on the University's very own
multi-gigabit high speed Intranet to enable
live broadcasts of lectures and seminars
to students on any networked notebook or
desktop computer on campus. Entertainment
services provided on NUSCast include news
and documentary programs licensed from Channel
NewsAsia, CNN News, BBC World, CNBC, Discovery
and NUSLive. NUSLive is the University’s
own webcast channel and consists of NUS
live and archived events, NUS lectures,
public talks and seminars.
